About Me
Integrated Whole Recovery’s (IWR) mission is: to help men integrate the body, soul, and spirit to achieve wholeness in their recovery. Wholeness is the goal, recovery is the road, and integration is the means.
Integrated– Integration means coordinating parts together into a functioning or unified whole. In our life, a proper solution to hard problems almost always involve an integration of many parts rather than just one or two dynamic things. Sometimes it is the big giant decisions that change our direction in life, but the little consistent changes we make every day help keep us on that road. Integration in recovery means integrating the body, soul, and spirit into the plan. Whatever the problem is, the solution will be in integrating these parts together. This is much more effective than focusing on just one part. It is much harder, but hard work will always be required for real growth.
Whole– Wholeness in one’s self means unbroken or undamaged. This is nowhere near perfection or the absence of pain or conflict. It simply means that pieces of our life are being mended and made healthier. It is not just one big destination, it is an ongoing process with many points of destination. Some things may never be the same, but wholeness is a worthy goal. With so many faucets of our lives, there will always be opportunities for advancement in this area.
Recovery– Recovery in the context of self-health is the process of restoring wellness and health after damage. The damage may be due to addiction or trauma or destructive behaviors. Whatever was lost or hurt may be found or healed through a good recovery system. This is a journey that often involves hard work, tough decisions, and much dedication. The rewards are very much worth it!
